CAD Training x Milestones
The CAD Training / 3D Printing course offered by Milestones in partnership with ASME is a five week course. Each week consists of a 2 hour lecture, in class demos, and homework. The class is offered twice a semester and is offered in person and virtually. It is about a 2-3 weekly hour time commitment and the meetings are every Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
The first week focuses on the idea of what is CAD and why is it important. We will look at the history of CAD and then the basics starting with downloading Fusion360, sketching, and extruding.
In week two, this course explores the variety of tools available in CAD softwares such as constraints, construction geometry, offset planes, patterns, loft, fillet, chamfer, and shell.
After learning about the basics, this course focuses on creating assemblies and learning about form and canvas.
The culmination is the final project where the students create their own design, learn about rendering and go through the process of 3D Printing slicing.
In the final week, the course focuses on 3D printing, learning about 3D printing settings and setting up a 3D Printer. It ends with a printing demo from the staff.
